Masham Peculiar Court

5th September 1664. Between the hours of 9 and 11 in the morning in the Parish Church, Massam before Mark Hodgson, Clerk, Official or Commissary of the Peculiar jurisdiction of Massam in the presence of Francis Parker – notary public.

Office of the judge against Mann Dowson for a Popish Recussant and teachinge schoole at Grewelthorpe.

Office of the judge against Christopher Jaques of Grewelthorpe late churchwarden of Kirkby Malzeard for neglectinge to present the said Mann Dowson.

On 20th December 1664 Jaques appeared and alleged “that the said Man Dawson [sic] came to live in Grewelthorpe after he was out of his office of Churchwarden”, wherefore the case was dismissed.

In the Parish Church of Massam between the hours of 9 and 11 in the morning.

Office of the judge against Thomas Wells of Grewelthorpe, Tristram Wells of Gaughey and Edward Mouncton of Dallowgill “ for workeinge upon St.James’s Day”
On which day Thomas and Tristrum Wells appeared and confessed and were dismissed with a warning.
