What's On

This is the latest from Grewelthorpe Community Action Group.

Dear Residents

We hope you are all managing during this extraordinary time. We are working behind the scenes on various projects to keep you not only informed but active during this time of isolation.

Online information

We have set up a FaceBook page https://www.facebook.com/Grewelthorpe-Village-Covid-19-101047428219367 so that you can keep up to date. The FaceBook page allows you all to post information, suggestions and photos, so do join in.

Updates from the Police

If you would like to get emails from North Yorkshire Community Messaging, you can sign up here. A lot of information, although not all of it relevant to Grewelthorpe! They also send out messages about ‘Coronavirus Scams’, which unbelievably (or perhaps not) there are many going around. Worth signing up to.

Food and provisions

Are you in the vulnerable category and struggling to get food? Volunteers are willing to shop on your behalf from Highside Butchers and various other places. Please contact Judy O’Shaughnessy on 658728. We also have frozen soup, bread and cakes from the café, Judy has a full list of food available.

There is also a home delivery service from the following businesses. In some cases you will need to pay in advance over the phone.
Highside Butchers (meat, fish and vegetables) in Kirkby – Tel: 658423
R & J Butchers in Kirkby – Tel: 658611
Kirkby Stores – Tel: 658305
Damien, household cleaning product refills, soaps, toiletries and dental products – 07745 370994
Black Sheep Brewery, home delivery of beer and food – 680101
Rogers Butchers in Masham – 689459 (delivery Weds)
Kirkby Fisheries (Fish and Chips and more) – 658723
Citizens’ Advice

The Citizens Advice Craven and Harrogate Branch is open and contactable via telephone and email. There is a core of workers and a few volunteers working from home to answer queries. See their website for details.

Artwork

The village hall café is having work done and we are looking for artwork which can be framed. Anyone and any age can submit. Also, with Easter coming up, there are suggestions for decorating our houses. If you didn’t get our previous e-mail with details of how to take part, please let us know and we’ll send you a copy.

In the meantime, we need to make the best of this. Some of us find we have time to do things that we have never had time to do; like writing a book or taking up a new hobby. Just having time to spend with those close to us. Quality time with your children, baking, gardening and playing, they will remember this stage of their lives as a positive one. Get out in nature and appreciate the beauty around us, say it out loud.

An important thing to do is to limit news coverage because it increases our stress level, so just a check-in once a day so that we are all following government guidelines.

A large number of you have offered to help in many different ways so a huge thank you to you all. Remember, if any of you are struggling with anything from food to prescriptions to feeling lonely or anxious, please get in touch (either via the FaceBook group or through the key coordinators – details below) because there’s a host of people just waiting to help out.

Keep safe and well,

Grewelthorpe Community Action Group
